Convivium Singers are regularly involved in working with children in State and Private schools across South West England. Origins of Outreach: Over the past two years, Convivium Singers have joined forces with members of Portsmouth Cathedral Choir to bring primary school choirs together to celebrate Christmas in their local churches. With workshops being provided in school time under the direction of Adrian Green, 2009 saw Lee-on-the-Solent Junior School (Gosport) prepare a number of carols to perform by themselves, with Convivium Singers and with a full congregation of parents and friends. The concert included a new setting of 'In the bleak mid-winter' by Adrian Green which required a children's choir and a professional group. (play above) Aside from drawing a community together, the opportunity for a primary school to work with and listen to a professional choir was a motivation for the school to broaden its musical ambitions and strengthen its connections with St Faith's Parish Church. One of the key themes in programming carol services for 2009 was that of exploring continental music. 2010 has seen a broadening of this with an ambitious project concluded at Newport Minster (The Isle of Wight) with five choirs performing music from 'Around the World at Christmas'.
